One way we like to celebrate the holidays is by doing the annual Miami Christmas Pageant presented by the University Baptist Church. This was the 26th year of the pageant and our 11th year providing them the incredible effects the audience has come to expect. Watch out for the camels!

The Miami Beach Convention Center went overboard for New Year’s Eve and booked two of our 3-headed YAG projectors, one 10-Watt white light LaserPro and four LaserXpress units.
The beauty of the show came from the stage with precision beam bouncing with the white light system, accompanied by six (yes, count them six) YAG aerial scanner heads blended into the mix. Technically unique was the control for the four LaserXpress air-cooled laser graphic projectors. All four units were controlled via DMX.
What was unusual was that our Smartmax control software called up all the graphic imagery independently and sent the random scene change data via DMX.

More club installations, this time in Cartagena, Colombia at Club Amnesia. Our versatile LaserXpress again made believers out of our new friends at the club.
The beams and aerial fans surround the dance floor like never before. The owners had so much fun with the system that they recently called and ordered more bounce mirrors.

All night dance parties are fun. To make it even more exciting, we brought out our 5-headed monster to the stage of the Global Gathering. As you can see by the picture, everything was just right. The wind cooperated and blew the smoke right where we wanted it to go for an amazing effect!

While all the shows are going on, our factory continues to build projectors and accessories, which this month featured two installations: the White Star Nightclub in Detroit and the Black Bear Jamboree in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee:

  • White Star premiered our new “Beam Raider” full-color graphic and beam projector. This amazing new projector features full-color (RGB) graphic images and 12 fixed beams out to bounce mirrors in the club. Our “see thru” motorized scrim completed the installation by adding the best place to view the images.

  • If you ever go to the Smoky Mountains, you must stop in Pigeon Forge and go to the Black Bear Jamboree! This exciting singing and dancing revue is an incredible surprise in the middle of the mountains. The story line and the talented staff make for an extremely entertaining family experience. Plus, you get a great meal with the show!
We installed a 5 Watt Argon laser and projector to add beams and graphics to the grand finale.

One of the perks of our business is that we get to travel to out-of-the-way locations. Like the Smoky Mountains, we discovered another jewel in Florida; the Don Cesar Hotel, just below St. Petersburg, Florida. This beautifully restored 1920’s-era hotel shows off the best of that time with today’s luxuries. I highly recommend the Don Cesar if you’re ever looking for an out of the way beautiful hotel.
Our event at this hotel featured the 10 Watt White light for fixed beams and graphics, plus, the 20 Watt 3-headed monster. At great time was had by all…including us.

Cancun, Mexico called us to help celebrate their Independence Day. Our high powered 5-headed YAG projector made its debut and I don’t think Cancun will ever be the same! Under trying conditions, our technicians made the day with beams and graphics for the thousands gathered in the main square. When the laser graphic image of the chained hands opened to break the chains, the crowd went wild!

The Miller Tour continued to its final two destinations this month. It was a wild and successful ride that featured many Latin stars and 100% performance by LaserNet.

The grand opening of the Ameristar Casino brought us to St. Charles, Missouri, near St. Louis. This incredible new riverboat casino added a landside entertainment complex that rivals any Las Vegas venue. Complete with hotel, bars, and performance stages, we took over the main thoroughfare to give the huge crowds the nighttime experience of their lives. Our big YAG was shooting overhead, while the white light shot our graphic shows onto a giant suspended screen.

We rushed back to Miami just in time for the Corinthians College annual convention at the beautiful new Lowes Hotel in South Beach. The most memorable part of the night was when the CEO’s of the company came out dressed as KISS. Of course, they rocked us all night long!

The end of August allowed us to show our wares to the event professionals at the Event Solutions Expo. This expo featured our lasers on stage for the high-energy opening and closing sessions. Plus we were able to meet and greet all the people we speak with throughout the year.

June
2002

June 1st saw us live at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando. This screaming party featured our 10 Watt white light system and the 20 Watt YAG on stage for the Friday night extravaganza. Beams and aerial scans were everywhere.
One act utilized our precision beams in a unique way. We built a circle of fixed mirrors above the stage to create a cage of laser beams on stage. The performers had to try and figure out how to get out!

On June 3rd, we moved over to Universal Studios Sound Stage #21 for the Stars Party. Here’s where we let it all hang out. In addition to the 10 Watt white light system and the 20 Watt YAG system, we now added our 6 DMX Moving Mirrors. These were targeted by the white light laser and were hung on trussing over the huge stage.
Carefully, we created programming that allowed the reflected laser beam to shoot to unoccupied pre-positioned areas on stage. One description of the six beams shooting down to the stage said it looked like a giant spider walking on stage.

We were featured on the roof of the famous Foxwoods Resort and Casino with our 40 Watt YAG, 3-headed monster in mid-June. The resort needed glamorous pictures of the beautiful buildings for an up-coming HBO special. We were called in to add the icing to the cake and we hope you all got to see the incredible images.

The "Boys of Summer" start playing baseball! April 8th saw us at the opening game for the Florida Marlins baseball team. Three YAG lasers surrounded the stands with aerial images projected onto the outfield.
At the same time, the high powered white light system was blasting graphics on our 40 x 60 foot screen located in centerfield.

We were chosen for the Anheuser-Busch annual convention in New Orleans to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of Budweiser, The King of Beers. Due to the massive size of the set, this important event saw us bring out the big guns!
Three high powered YAGs, each with two fiber remote heads and a primary scan head gave us nine different locations for aerial projection. In addition to the YAGs, we had 20-Watt Argon and the 5-Watt Krypton lasers blended into our LaserPro projector under the stage. The LaserPro shot beams to over 60 bounce mirrors all over the stage.
The entire show ran via SMPTE time code which was critical to match the visuals with the sound track. This production introduced the Beam Mover to corporate theatre. The Beam Mover is a DMX controlled 8-inch mirror capable of 360 degree movement. We had six of these mounted on a truss directly over the stage.
When the show program talked about how lasers are used for welding, the lasers shot beams to these new Beam Movers which swept beams across the stage to custom diffraction effects. Sparks actually shot back up and complimented the visuals on the RP screens.
At the end of the opening module, the lasers were used to introduce August Busch IV. The 60-Watt YAG created a fan behind Mr. Busch, while the white light laser systems shot up to the Beam Movers which danced around the stage and the created a wall of 12 beams which "opened" (like a curtain) to allow Mr. Busch to enter the meeting.

March continues to be our beer month as we mount an 11-city tour with Miller Beer. The Platinum Tour of the Latin Music Machine "La Maquina Musical" may be stopping at a city near you. Be on the look out for our 20-Watt YAG and 5-Watt white light show bouncing to the Latin beat.
