What's new at LaserNet -- 2003

2003 started strong, tapered off and finished with a bang. We’re still here and plan to be a strong force in the industry into the future. Highlights of 2003 include:

The end of the year has been quite busy with installations. We went to New York during its 1st major snow storm and installed the new Copper Bromide (gold) laser system into the new CROBAR. This new, huge club in Manhattan is the first U.S. club to feature the gold laser. It looks marvelous!

Right after CROBAR, we began the installation for Cancun’s largest/newest hotspot: The City. This place, when it opens, will be a main attraction for the entire city. Cancun, famous for spring break, now has a City that never sleeps. Our lasers will be featured prominently in and outside the new club.

Our annual Christmas pageant set the tone for the holidays with fun and seriousness. We love helping everyone into to the spirit of the season.

Now, it's New Year’s Eve…One show will be seen on TV by who knows how many thousands. And, the other show will be surrounded by Native Americans. We’ve just got to keep our clocks synchronized!

We worked with Clear Channel Communications on a 3 city “Latin Rock” tour that took us to New York, Los Angeles and Miami for graphic logo projections.

We also participated in LDI-03 in Orlando. Our booth was quite well received and we gained much exposure for our products and services.

The contract for the 13th Annual Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando has been awarded to LaserNet.
This month-long production at the “Islands of Adventure” theme park will feature two of LaserNet’s “LaserPro” projectors. One projector is outfitted with a 20 Watt Argon laser and the other unit will feature a 7 Watt Krypton laser. Both systems will be able to output over 20 beams and have high resolution scanners for aerial effects.
According to LaserNet President, Tom Harman, Universal has turned the Lost Continent section of the park into a Fire and Ice fantasy. “The show producers wanted a laser battle between Fire and Ice, so of course, we put the blue/green Argon in the Ice part of the park and the red Krypton in the Fire section. We’ve placed bounce mirrors on the roofs of the low buildings and we’ve got laser beams shooting everywhere! It’s not often that we get to see those big powerful red beams, needless to say, I’m very happy with the results.”
This extremely popular Halloween attraction sets the standard for theme parks everywhere and LaserNet is pleased to add their laser expertise to the fun. Halloween Horror Nights runs from October 3rd through Nov 1st. Go to www.universal.com for more scary show details.

Also in October, we did a huge corporate show for Carlson Productions in Orlando and the gigantic 3 day Latin Music Festival in Santo Domingo.

At the end of the month we produced a custom haunted house for a private party that blew everyone away. (We actually built the haunted house!)

Summer
2003

The nightly sound and light show at the Fall River Park in Sioux Falls, SD opened for the 3rd year and ran all summer. At the same time we did the grand opening for the new Trump Sonesta Resort on Miami Beach. As well as, a huge dance party for Mission Productions at the Ice Palace Movie Studios.

Our “lasers went wild” in Orlando for the annual circuit party. We did two giant shows in different venues, the Hard Rock Live Theater and Universal’s Studio 21. The After party was at the Arabian Knights Theater and rocked until dawn.

Also in June, we did an outdoor show in Quito, Ecuador and installed a nightclub system in Calle, Colombia.

Thousands saw our 4th of July show in Miami’s Bayfront Park as well as a special show for the Seminole Tribe’s Brighton facilities.

Labor Day weekend featured our system for Ultra’s big show at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

March/May
2003

Spring Break in South Padre Island for the month of March kept us busy.

At the same time we went to Washington DC for a top secret show at the Army facilities at Fort Belvoir.

Downtown Miami featured the Winter Music Conference which finalized with ULTRA, where our crew did three different stages.

Maze Days was a full color all-night jam inside the movie studios of the Ice Place that featured our 10 watt white light laser system. Hanging all those bounce mirrors was really fun(?), but really made the show!!!

Not a highlight, but we were in Providence for a show the day after the horrible nightclub fire. Our tech almost went to the concert. Our show was cancelled out of respect.
